Board of Managment
The current board of management was formed in December 2011 for a four year term. The Board of Management meets a minimum of five times in the school year.
Board members are:
Tom Duff – Chairperson
Seamus Hynes - Treasurer
Carmel O Shea – Parent Nominee
Colm Wilson – Parent Nominee
Edel Mc Mahon – Principal
Sarah Watters - Staff Representative
Richy Davis - Community Nominee
Maria Whyte - Community Nominee
The board of management has many functions. They work as a team for the good of the school.
The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron and is accountable to the Patron and the Minister. The Board must uphold the characteristic spirit (ethos) of the school and is accountable to the Patron for so doing. The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, including guidance and direction of the teachers and other staff of the school, and is accountable to the Board for that management. The Board of Management must adhere to the Constitution and Rules of Boards of Managment 2011.
The board of management engages in the following activities:
1. School planning
3. Teaching and Learning
4. Managment of resources e.g grants
5. School Policies
6. Child Protection
7. Code of Behaviour/ Anti- Bullying Policy
8. The Board as an Employer
If parents have a particular concern regarding their child,they should in the first instance speak with their child’s teacher. Occasionally,parents may wish to have a matter discussed at Board of Management level. For this to happen,the matter should be communicated in writing to the Chairperson of the Board at least ten days before the next planned Board of Management meeting. Parents/Guardians will be informed of dates for Board meetings.
